LMMAR TRAVEL
In the past ten years, more than
2000 LMMAR
members and guests have enjoyed more than 65 trips on almost every continent
escorted by Travel Chairman Vern DeVincenzi.
We journeyed along the Silk Road in Turkey, climbed the
Great Wall of China, and celebrated New Year’s Eve at the foot of the Eiffel
Tower on board our riverboat. England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland we toured
by motor coach and cruised from Moscow to St. Petersburg along the Volga River
in Russia.
Other cruises we have enjoyed
included: the Mediterranean, Alaska (three times), the Panama Canal (five
times), the Land of the Midnight Sun above Norway, the Caribbean several times
and the Amazon River during which we visited Devil’s Island. From Bombay to
Mombassa, another cruise visited Goa, the Seychelles Islands, and Zanzibar
where the Portuguese had established a distribution center for the export of
African slaves. African animal Safari’s fascination drew
us back for on three separate trips.
We attended the Oberammergau festival of
Germany, produced only once every ten years, where a live performance of the
Passion play with 1500 participants including live animals bring the story to
life. Thailand’s ancient architecture combined with fascinating scenery and
the sincerity of their people made this a delightful trip. By popular demand,
we will revisit Thailand in 2005.
LMMAR day trips closer to home have taken us
to the Symphony a few days before New Year’s Eve and numerous Mystery Trips.
Besides visiting Branson four times to enjoy
the shows and food, we have toured Canada four times and became better
acquainted with our Canadian neighbors. The Badlands of South Dakota,
Broadway shows in New York, the Laguna Arts Festival, and two Mississippi
Riverboat tours showed us more of the beauty of our own country.
Planned trips for 2005/06 are as follows:
Thailand, New Zealand, Branson and the Clinton Library, Iceland, A Cruise
around the Horn of South America, and more tours of the United States.
All LMMAR members and guests are advised to
carry trip cancellation and emergency evacuation insurance on all trips. This
insurance has helped our fellow travelers when unfortunate circumstances have
befallen our fellow travelers. We have not lost a LMMAR member or Guest on
any of our trips.
